UPDATE MARCH 24TH 2020: DUE TO THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK AND THE CLOSURE OF THE GUILDHALL LIBRARY, THE LAUNCH OF THE EXHIBITION WILL BE POSTPONED UNTIL A LATER DATE
We’re very pleased to reveal that the Civic London project team will be running an exhibition at the Guildhall Library in the City of London this summer.
Running from 11th May to mid-July 2020, the exhibition will be free to the public. It will feature findings from the project about civic pageantry in the period 1558-1642 as well as the connections between playwrights, performers and the City.
We will showcase objects and printed pageant books alongside manuscripts from Livery Company archives held at the Guildhall which reveal the depth of planning and care which went into putting on a show in early modern London.
Watch this space for more details! To whet your appetite, you can see some of our archival findings on the records pages of this site.
